Children's Ministry, continued

It is our desire to build on the foundation that you are laying at home with your children as you teach them throughout the week. For those who are new parents or new to our church, we would love the opportunity to share with you some wonderful resources to use with your children at home. We have a “Parent Resource Table” set up so parents can browse through the many wonderful, helpful resources we have found and used with our own kids.

We are so grateful that this past summer we had over 100 adults who spent the week teaching our children how God reveals Himself through His world and His Word. Children learned the answers to questions like: “How did the universe begin?” “Did the meteorites kill the dinosaurs?” “What’s the difference between astrology and astronomy?” And, “Why are people looking for life on other planets?” These are questions that many of our children are asking as they study science and history in their classrooms. At our Wednesday night program this summer many of your children also learned how to better answer a scoffer when asked, “How do you know the Bible is true?” It is our desire to provide our children with sound biblical teaching that will help them see that the Word of God is relevant to their lives and interesting to learn.

We, along with our many volunteers, thoroughly enjoy spending time with your children. There are many individuals who spend time with our children week after week as they teach in our Sunday Schools. They come to church faithfully each week prepared to share biblical truths with our children and to let them know that they are important and valued by adults. It is always such a blessing to know that we have so many people at our church who love investing in the lives of children.

On Sunday evenings our AWANA ministry has attracted more children than ever before. Many of the questions children have about their world and the Bible are answered during the teaching time each week. The most recent leader’s guides are entitled “What is your biggest question about God” and “Why should I believe the Bible is true?” These resources are being used by each of our clubs so your children can get the answers they need. The materials used by the children are designed to show parents exactly how they can help their child succeed in the program. It also helps parents teach the information to their child. The AWANA materials are some of the best tools we have used with our own children in developing them spiritually. They are so easy to pick up and they are used to teach our kids so many vital issues. We especially like sitting with our children individually and giving them one-on-one attention as we work together on the lesson for each week.

If you would like to see some of those materials, feel free to stop by one of our offices to browse through the AWANA materials. We are always available to answer any of your questions or help you with concerns about your own children. If you have not yet enrolled your children in the AWANA ministry, why not start this week? We would love the opportunity to work alongside you as we help develop your child into the God-honoring individual Christ wants him/her to be.
